GIVEAWAY: OneSight Acoustics with Hugh Masekela, Shortstraw, New Academics & Akio Kawahito

OneSight Acoustics 1

OneSight Acoustics is a music series brought to you by OneSight: a global public nonprofit organization which provides sustainable access to quality vision care and eye wear to those who cannot afford it or do not have access to it. Around the world, millions of people suffer from poor vision. An eye exam and a simple pair of glasses can help them reach their full potential.

For over 27 years, OneSight has engaged thousands of skilled volunteers to hand-deliver the gift of sight to almost 9 million people in 40 countries.

Given the success over the last 3 years, Ray-Ban will be hosting its highly anticipated music event, OneSight Acoustics for the first time in Johannesburg. Offering only the best in local talent like Hugh Masekela, Tresor, Reason and many more, The Good Luck Bar will be presenting 4 events for the series during October and November 2016.

Join OneSight and some of South Africa’s greatest artists at The Good Luck Bar on 16 October, 30 October, 13 November and 27 November.

The first event is on Sunday 16 October, from 13h00 – 19h00 at The Good Luck Bar.
Hugh Masekela, Shortstraw, New Academics, and Akio Kawahito will be performing.
Tickets (R100, or R300 for all 4 shows) are available on Webtickets here.
Tickets will be sold at the door for R150.

  1. Hugh Masekela, and New Academics!! One of the biggest legends in this country, can’t miss out on Hughey’s great performance as always, what a rare one. New Academics, always making me wanting to strip down and have funky sex. Shortstraw always makes me wet as a bonus.

  2. Two years ago at a Shortstraw show in Pretoria I met a guy, as drunk as a skunk while being stuck in a tree (I have photos to prove this) and he instantly became my best friend. Shortstraw also became a symbol of our friendship, because it all started with them. Coincidentally it is his birthday weekend that weekend and I would love to go crazy with him while listening to our band at Onesight Acoustics <3

  3. I was the drunk-as-a-skunk guy in the tree that became best friends with someone I’ve never met over the sweet sweet sounds of Shortstraw stroaking my ears. I swear to bring joy, lots of alcohol and amazing smiles to all people attending the show and it would be a merry ol’ time!!! Please make me a winner! Otherwise I’ll be a whiner, and no one likes that!

  4. Watching Hugh Masekela live is the equivalent of a blues fan watching BB King live. No words would be able to describe the burning joy witnessing this legend on stage. Also Shortstraw reminds me of an early beer on a Saturday morning doing a breakfast braai, what could be better?
