After months of anticipation, Lucasfilm and Disney finally released the full trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. After hints at the plot in two teaser trailers, this final trailer finally reveals… more hints at the plot. I’m very impressed with how, in typical JJ Abrams style, the trailer retains the mystery surrounding the film. It shows a few character moments and a lot of action, but really nothing about the plot.
Also revealed yesterday is the film’s official poster.
The most important thing on the poster (aside from Leia’s hairstyle): The “that’s no moon” in the background…
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the seventh episode in the main Star Wars saga, following 1983’s Return of the Jedi. It is directed by JJ Abrams, who previously helmed Mission: Impissoble III, Super 8, Star Trek, and Star Trek Into Darkness, and features the return of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Chewbacca from the original Star Wars trilogy. The film was written by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan (of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi). Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D formats in cinemas on 16 December 2015 – that’s right: For once, South Africa gets an early (public holiday) release! BOOK NOW!
